Animal Communications

Several species have developed their own means of communication, which have been passed down to generations. When it comes to big cats, there is minimal usage of sounds or communication as such.
The exception being the Lions, which are considered to be highly social and of course noisy. The Tigers, for example, make a deep growl sound which is largely threatening in nature; the whoof sound is made when it is taken by surprise and the roar when it is about to charge or attack. Besides these, the Tigers are known to make a deep-throated roar around the mating sound but what is particularly interesting is the ‘belling’ sound of a Sambar deer that the Tigers mimic, in order to lure them to its death.
